You may have noticed A LOT of “talk” on the internet lately about home-made laundry detergent. Well, I noticed and got proactive. I mean, between baby detergent and household detergent I was spending upward of $30+ dollars a month. Might sound like a lot but when you think about how much laundry you do…I do A LOT, the cost adds up. And then when you think about it you’re paying for mostly water and packaging. I was buying two name brands. This recipe cost me $10.40!!
So, here is the 3 ingredient recipe that I have stubbled upon again and again on various internet sites. I really hope you try it, because it does get clothes clean. The fourth ingredient is up to you and that is the scent.
- 1 cup of Borax
- 1 cup of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda
- 1 bar of soap, grated (I used Fels Naptha), but you can use any soap
- Essential oil, 3 drops (I didn’t add any because the Fels Naptha has a mild scent that I find pleasant)
Normal load = 2 tablespoon
Super/Heavy load = 3 tablespoons
