This past weekend was all about party planning for me. Gabriella will turn 1 on November 4th and we are having a birthday party for her on Saturday the 5th. I am a perfectionist and with this being her 1st birthday I want it to be memorable…and perfect!
I decided on the theme a few months back because one of our nicknames for GiGi is hootie. This baby use to, and occasionally will still HOOT! So OWL theme it is.
I received a catalog in the mail from Celebrate Express, saw the owl theme on the cover – “Look Whoo’s 1” and placed my order! I ordered the themes dinner plates, dessert plates, napkins, foil balloon, owl plush, and a 19” pink owl piñata! I also went my local iparty to fill in with solid colors items like forks, more napkins, table cloths, crepe paper, etc.
Next I went to Gigi’s Glitzy Boutique to find the perfect 1st birthday outfit. You can customize anything and everything at this boutique so I did. Of course I wanted to maintain the owl theme and they had something just perfect. Look Whoo’s Turning One Birthday Outfit which I customized so it’s a bit different from the picture on their site.
Also this weekend, I baked the sugar cookie favors…40 of them! (I froze the undecorated cookies until I’m ready to decorate them right before the party). I found a listing on Etsy for Owl Party favor tags. So I had Jeniene from Ciao Bambino on Etsy customize these to match the colors of the owl theme.
Last but not least I cooked the biggest batch of sauce, 12 cans of tomatoes, I’ve ever made. I just couldn’t find a suitable, and as delicious as my own home cooking, caterer, so mama is cooking the whole birthday meal for 30-40 guest.
It was a busy weekend, but I feel like I’ve made good progress. I’ll continue to update the party planning as we get closer and closer to GiGi turning 1. I still can’t believe she is going to be a year old. It is no joke how fast the time goes by when you have little ones.
