I had a few Cortland apples lying around that I intended to make apple crisp with but them I went on Pinterest and everything changed.
I saw that someone had pinned this recipe for Crock-Pot Baked Apples and had to try it. Plus, I had all the ingredients in my pantry…bonus!
Ingredients:
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons trans-fat free margarine (I used unsalted butter)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
6 Gala or Macintosh apples, cored (I used 4 large Cortlands which is all I could fit in my Crock Pot)
1/2 cup apple juice or apple cider
2 tablespoons orange liquor (optional)
Method:
Preheat your Crock-Pot on high heat and preset it for 3 hours. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, walnuts, butter and cinnamon. Fill the apples with the filling and place them into the Crock-Pot. Pour in the apple juice or cider and the liquor, if using. Cover and cook 2 1/2 – 3 hours until the apples are soft and start to collapse.

Baked apples are one of my favorite things about fall/winter. I've never tried making them in the crock pot though, I'll have to give it a go sometime soon!
Looks delicious! We have so many apples.
baked apples are the best! i really need to get myself a crock pot!!
Yes, you certainly should. Or at least borrow someone's so you can see how you like it. I plan on a lot of Crock-Pot recipes this winter. Next recipe will be tacos!
It was very good and even Gabriella liked it!
I love that this uses the crockpot! My two boys love anything with apples, thanks for the recipe
