Another Year, Another Cookie Exchange!

Every December for the past four years I have hosted a Cookie Exchange.  I host family and friends and there are typically more than 10 of us for the exchange. I like to have it around noon time so that we can relax, enjoy a light lunch and kibitz!
Each guest brings a dozen cookies and a printed recipe for each of the other guests. Which mean, each guest goes home with at least 10 dozen assorted cookies! WOWZA!
I was not going to host this year, but I’M BEING PRESSURED, I mean gently nudged to host. So, here we are on November 27th and I am gathering my hostess supplies! I will need to pick a date, send out the invites, plan the lunch menu, find and purchase the cookie gift bag (for guests to bring their cookies home in of course), and finally bake some cookies. Hmmm, decisions, decisions, what cookie should I make this year? Any suggestions for this Momma?
I think it will be better for me this year than last. Last year GiGi was only a little over a month old and I was nursing her so often that I hardly had time to really enjoy the holidays. Now that she is one, walking and feeding herself I think it will be wonderful.
In case you are ever interested in hosting a cookie swap of your own I’ve included below The Cookie-Swap Party Planner that I found a few years back on the Martha Stewart website. I find its always handy to have a checklist, plus I’m a bit neurotic about hosting events.
