I Want to Get Off This Roller-coaster!

Just what you want to hear…me complaining about my child and her teething drama. Well, too bad you’re gonna listen! Pretty please?!

We have been spoiled as parents. Gabriella has hardly EVER fussed during her 13 months on this planet. She has always been a very chill baby, and an AWESOME sleeper…until this past week.

She already cut 2 bottom teeth within the past couple of months with no problem. She has been wearing an amber teething necklace for the past couple of months and every once in a while we give her some Boiron Cocyntal for gas or teething pain.

Well, these last few days have been grueling. I am guessing she is cutting the top two teeth OR her one year molars. All sleeping schedules are off. She use to go to bed at 7pm and wake up around 6/6:30am. Nap from 9:30am-10:30am and again from 2-3pm. This past Saturday morning she woke up at 5am, took one one hour nap while we walked at Meshanticut Lake, but had no afternoon nap and was in bed by 630pm. She woke up on Saturday night at midnight and was up until about 2am, but then slept until 6am. Monday she had her two “normal” naps and was in bed at her usual time. She woke up at midnight and it was downhill from there. I think she was up every hour until 430am and then woke up for the day at 630am. There was NO morning nap today and a brief 40 minute cat-nap this afternoon. She is completely EXHAUSTED, whimpers and is a bit cranky. AND, she is not into her Sophie. ::sad-face::

This Mama is TOTALLY exhausted! I am not ready to be thrust into waking up in the middle of the night again like when she was a newborn.  I feel like I just don’t know what to do. I feel like I’ve lost my Mommy Mo-Jo and am wandering aimlessly in the dark. There is nothing worse than feeling as though you can’t comfort your own child. UGH!

Today I bought Hylands Teething Tablets as my other mommy friends say these work great! We just put Gabriella down for the night after giving her the recommended dosage. Dear God let us get some sleep tonight!

Just like children write their letter to Santa I wrote one to the Teething Monster…
Dear Teething Monster…LEAVE MY SWEET CHILD ALONE! It is Christmas vacation for DH and we really want to have a nice well rested holiday. Please pack your belongings and vacate IMMEDIATELY!

P.S. Thanks for “listening” if you read all the way down to hear. If you are going through this or have gone through this and can offer any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

About Candice

Candice is a mom of three under 5. Originally from the smallest state of Rhode Island, now living in Connecticut. From working gal to stay-at-home mom, she is walking the path of the Modern Mom.

  1. Drink lots of coffee. My eldest had ear infections at 3 months old (and many times through those early years) and when they started I started drinking coffee to make it through the days. I'll say a prayer you all get a good night's sleep.

  2. It is a phase, I promise!!! Hylands works well as well as amber teething necklaces. I hope she sleeps better soon!
