Tasty Tuesday | #SuperBowl Edition #Linkup #Recipe

I mentioned in last weeks post that I wanted to dedicate this Tasty Tuesday to the Super Bowl and all the delicious foods that go with it! And, if you could care less about the Super Bowl thats cool too. Grab some yummy recipes anyway!
We will be cheering on the Patriots from the tiny state of Rhode Island this weekend. I’m going to share a Chili recipe with you since that is the main go-to Super Bowl food in our house. DH is the one to make it and I usually take off somewhere {as in leave the house} since his cooking can get kind of messy and I’m a bit OCD with cleaning its just better I go out.
I won’t have any pictures for recipe until he makes the chili on Saturday so stay tuned for that.  And, since I’m never in the house for this ordeal cooking I don’t have any photos from years past.
Side note – I found this to-die-for Patriots cheerleading outfit for G to wear especially for this weekend.

All-American Chili
  1. 6 ounces hot chicken Italian sausage
  2. 2 cups chopped onion
  3. 1 cup chopped green bell pepper
  4. 8 garlic cloves, minced
  5. 1 pound ground chicken, pork, or sirloin {your choice}
  6. 1 jalapeño pepper, chopped
  7. 2 tbsp chili powder
  8. 2 tbsp brown sugar
  9. 1 tbsp ground cumin
  10. 3 tbsp tomato paste
  11. 1 tsp dried oregano
  12. 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  13. 1/4 tsp salt
  14. 2 bay leaves
  15. 1 1/4 cups Merlot or other fruity red wine
  16. 2 {28 oz} cans whole tomatoes, undrained and coarsely chopped
  17. 2 {15 oz} cans kidney beans, drained
  18. 1/2 cup {2 oz} shredded reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese
  • Heat a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Remove casings from sausage. Add sausage, onion, and the next 4 ingredients {onion through jalapeño} to pan; cook 8 minutes or until sausage and meat are browned, stirring to crumble.
  • Add chili powder and the next 7 ingredients {chili powder through bay leaves}, and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Stir in wine, tomatoes, and kidney beans; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  • Uncover and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Discard the bay leaves. Sprinkle each serving with cheddar cheese.
**Note** This chili tastes EVEN BETTER the next day so make in advance if you can!
