Tasty Tuesday | Blog Hop & #Recipe Swap!

Last week while we were all around Washington, DC we went to the Tyson’s Galleria one rainy day. {Hands down my favorite mall EVER} We ate lunch at P.F. Chang’s China Bistro. Have you ever eaten there? Well, they have these delicious chicken lettuce wraps on the menu which I ordered for my lunch. I paid real close attention to the flavors as I ate the filling so I could try and recreate it at home. I think it was a pretty successful attempt if I do say so myself! 

Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Ingredients:
  1. 1 pound ground chicken
  2. vegetable oil
  3. 1 clove of garlic, finely minced
  4. 1 small onion, finely minced
  5. 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger
  6. 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  7. 2 tablespoons agave nectar 
  8. 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  9. 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
  10. 1 small can of water chestnuts, drained and finely diced
  11. 1 head of iceberg lettuce cut in half and core removed
Method:
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add about two to three tablespoons of the oil. Add the onion, garlic, and ginger and cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Add the ground chicken and cook about 5 minutes, stirring to combine. In a small bowl, mix together the dark brown sugar, agave nectar, sesame oil and soy sauce. Add this mixture and the water chestnuts to the meat and continue cooking until the meat has cooked through and the sauce has thickened, about 8-10 minutes. 
  • Separate leaves of iceberg lettuce and fill with desired amount of filling. I served this dish with basmati rice that I cooked with fresh ginger and fresh lime juice.

  2. OH MY GOSH…PF Chang's is one of my favorite restaurants, and now that we live so far away from everything we don't have one. I'm definitely going to try your recipe. Care to give the Spicy Orange Chicken a try?? I'd love to be able to make that!
