Hi All!
I’m so excited to be posting here on one of my best tweeps fabulous blog! Nice to “meet” all of you. :) If you don’t know me, I’m Jamie and my blog is For Love of Cupcakes (not because I make or sell cupcakes for a living, but because I call my little daughter Cupcakes <3).
Since Candice is out because she’s moving, and since I just moved, I thought I’d write about my experience moving with a toddler. :)
Here’s why moving is different with a toddler as opposed to an adults only affair…
Packing. In my experience, adults don’t unpack everything you packed just moments before. You don’t have to hide the boxes or put them in odd places such as inside cribs while lovingly placing your stuff inside. You also have a lot of last minute packing to do because toddlers come with lots of toys and other necessities that they’ll need up to the day you move.
Moving Day. I HIGHLY recommend having a great mom and mother-in-law who are willing to watch the little one while you help with the moving. Obviously, get some friends to help and give them pizza and beer. You still have to work around naps and such. Try to move the stuff out of his / her room while he / she is awake.
Adjusting to Your New Home. This is something I hadn’t thought about very much, but it’s not as easy for little ones as it is for adults. When we moved, Cupcakes had a rough couple of nights at first. It’s understandable! She didn’t know what was going on, where she was or why everything was different. Thankfully, her room looks very similar to her space where we used to live. I think having all her familiar things around was very helpful. :) She just needed a little bit of time and now she LOVES the place. She has a lot more freedom and more room to run around. Our new apartment is much more baby proofed. :)
I wish Candice all the best with her move and want her to know that I can’t wait to see pictures and hear all about it! Yay for moving and fresh starts!! :)
