Wordless-ish Wednesday | Shower, Landlords and Renting

So we have been here in our new rental place for one month and two days. Just less than 11 months left to the day we can run our asses right out the door and give the landlord back his keys. But am I counting the days, minutes, hours, seconds, weeks, months?
Imagine you move into a place and after moving all day all you can think about it taking a nice, long, hot shower. Well imagine you go to turn on the shower and quickly realize you can’t turn it off. What would you think? Would you think your super human strength somehow broke the shower or you are so brain dead that you don’t know how to properly use a shower OR would you think ARE YOU F*!N$ KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW!?
Seriously folks. This totally happened our first night here in our new place. AND, luckily my father was here to find the WATER MAIN TO THE ENTIRE HOUSE to turn the shower off because naturally there was no direct way to shut off the shower in the bathroom.
And then at 7:30PM our landlord came over to “fix” it which he did quickly and easily, but at the same time assured us that this had never happened before. Yea right buddy.
Well, the thing has been hanging on by a thread for one month and two days. That is until last night when this happened.

  1. Uuugh, nothing worst than something like a basic shower being such a PITA to take. Wishing you a remedy to your crazy shower sometime sooner rather than later

  2. One day you'll look at your husband and say, “Remember when we lived in that pit for a year?” I know it's not fun now but it'll make for fun stories at Thanksgiving when it's all over. In the meantime, think of all the blog posts it's providing you! 😀

We rented an apartment for nearly 4 yrs. The landlord lived below us in a 3 story house. There was an inner staircase, as you would expect in a 3 story house, that we didn't use. I literally folded and stuffed a curtain under the door so we wouldn't smell cigarettes, dogs, and birds. Our shared landing on the back stair case once had a turkey carcass from Thanksgiving until March. Oh the SMELL!! I can't believe we stayed as long as we did but the rent was really cheap for the space we got! 🙂

All that to say, I've been there! And have the stories to prove it. 🙂

  3. Sorry girl!! Renting can really stink sometime. Not a great welcome to your new place. =(

  4. Anonymous says:

Ask your landlord if you can hire a plumber to fix it and deduct it from the rent if he won't come fix it.

  5. You've got to be kidding me?!? Renting is crazy, we had 4 years where we couldn't control the temperature of the only shower/bath in the house so we'd just have to add buckets of water from the sink to the kids' baths to make it the right temp!

  6. ugggh I feel your pain though. I'm kinda living that right now.

  7. That's a long time to wait, my friend…I'd try to get something better worked out for fixing that problem, best of luck to you!!
