A *Sparkly* Shower {Another Pinterest Find}

So I had seen this “recipe” floating around Pinterest of all places…haha. I had pinned it, but never really thought anything of it…UNTIL my bloggy friend and website designer extraordinaire, Becca, Instagramed a picture of her sparkling bathroom shower. I truly took a double take and immediately had to try it for myself. I already had the ingredients in my house and you probably do, too.

  • 1 cup of blue Dawn dishsoap
  • 1 cup of white vinegar
  • a spray bottle

Pour the Dawn and vinegar into a microwave safe bowl and cook for 2 minutes. I used a Pyrex. Pour into a spray bottle and clean {with as little effort as you can} until your heart is content!

One of the two showers in our place has glass freaking doors. UGH! Cleaning those things is a BI-ATCH which means I hardly ever do so. Now, I am in complete disbelief how clean they are. Like, seriously so clean that T.J. is all, “G can see my business if she walks in while I’m showering”. LOL 🙂

I did use a scrub brush after I sprayed and left the mixture to marinate on the doors for a while. If the scent is too much for you, maybe open a window or turn on your exhaust fan. Vinegar naturally deodorizes the air and everything else, so I didn’t mind the smell while it got to work cleaning.

  1. Wow. This is amazing. We have huge glass doors in our standing shower (it’s as wide as a traditional tub but no tub) and I hate cleaning them. I think I’ve down it 3 times in 4 years. We squeegee and, like you, have extremely hard water. This is amazing!!!!!!!

  2. Thanks for reminding me to do this today, I have been meaning to forever. I really hope it works well on tile/grout because the soap scum buildup in our shower…is awful! I cannot for the LIFE of me, get it clean!!!!

  3. thank you! I so need to do this in my bathroom!

  4. Ok, that is pretty stinking amazing! It’s so weird that it needs cooking, but it works so I’m all in!

  5. I never really thought to use Dawn dish soap in the mixture! But I do use straight vinegar with great results!

  6. I wish I wasn’t so put off by the smell of vinegar (I can’t even cook with it) because I know it does such a great job cleaning things. My parents used to use it to clean the tiles when I was little and always felt sick from it. But the White tiles stayed white and the smell does go away quickly.

  7. Wow! That made a major difference! I need to try that on mine! Thanks!

  8. Holy moly, that looks like brand new glass compared to the before! Thanks for sharing, I’ll have to try this when visiting my mom’s place in a few weeks. She has giant glass walls on her shower, too!

  9. wow, what a great post, thank you! We struggle so much with hard water stains!

  10. THat is so amazing! I totally need to clean my entire bathroom- you don’t want to see it now!

  11. Does it have to be Dawn? I’m not a fan and prefer ones that are better for the environment. Is it something in the Dawn or will any dish washing detergent work? The results are fantastic.

  12. I am wondering if water spots have been on there awhile? Does it have to be microwaved? I am reading different things by my friends on Facebook?! Scrub brush? Leave on for what…half hour? Thank you!

I just tried this and it works GREAT! I was a little skeptical that that this would work, but I was getting sick (literally) and tired of using a bleach product. I let it soak on the shower about 5 minutes and used my scrub pad, rinsed with good results. Then I sprayed the curtain liner and let it sit for 15 minutes and was AMAZED by the results!
