Pinterest Project Comes to Life! A Fall Wreath

I made something! There’s something about the Fall weather that makes me feel crafty. Maybe it’s the chill in the air. Anyway, I keep seeing and pinning yarn wrapped wreaths on Pinterest. Well, I finally got my butt in the car and drove to my local Michael’s for the supplies. Of course I was excited to make a Fall themed wreath.

First, I found the flowers that I would use as the decorations and from there I found my yarn and wreath form. Basically I cheated and bought multicolored yarn which makes it look like I spent countless hours wrapping several different colors. Yea right! Also, I wanted to make my own felt flowers, but I was so anxious to get this project started and finished I just bought some already made. Total cost was about ten dollars for supplies.

To make your own yarn wrapped wreath you’ll need:

  1. wreath form
  2. hot glue + hot glue gun
  3. yarn
  4. any decorations you want
Start with a dab of hot glue gun where you want to start your yarn. Then start wrapping. This is a nice mindless activity so pour a glass of wine and get comfortable. First I found it addicting, but then my arm got tired. The first picture there is the first night I started. You can see I was pretty ambitious, and that took about 45 minutes. Mind you, I was also tweeting and drinking my wine. When you get to the end add another dab of hot glue to secure the yarn.ย Add your embellishments and you can sit back and enjoy your masterpiece!
So, I started this on Thursday night and finished on Sunday morning. I’m not sure how long it would take if you did it all in one shot. Maybe 3 hours?

Have you made a yarn wreath yet? I’m thinking crazy thoughts right now and have several in mind.
