Crock Pot Orange Chicken | #TastyTuesday Recipe Swap!

I am sure if you are on Pinterest then you have seen this recipe floating around. I actually had pinned it more than once over the course of the last year. Good grief. So, in my pursuit to add new recipes to our dinner and crock pot rotation in the new year, I tested it out for all of you. You are welcome.

I did have to make some changes to the cooking time. I’m not sure if that is due to the size of the pieces of chicken I used, amount of chicken, or if my crock pot just runs hot. Make sure you keep an eye on this while its cooking. The orange juice combined with the brown sugar can make the sauce brown quickly and since it will probably cook fast for you too, stir frequently.

Crock Pot Orange Chicken


  1. 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into 1″ chunks
  2. 1/3 cup flour
  3. olive oil
  4. 1/2 tablespoon salt
  5. 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  6. 3 tablespoon ketchup
  7. 6 ounces frozen orange juice concentrate, about half a can, thawed
  8. 4 tablespoon brown sugar
  • In a bowl, mix the orange juice, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, salt, and ketchup.
  • Pour the flour in a small bowl.  Cover the chicken breast chunks in flour and shake off the excess. I put my through a strainer to shake off the excess flour.
  • Pour a small amount of olive oil in a skillet and brown the flour-covered chicken.
  • The chicken doesn’t need to be fully cooked since it’s going in the crock pot.
  • After the chicken has browned, pour the pieces into the crock pot. Then cover the chicken with your sauce mixture and give it all a stir.
  • Cook on on low for 2-3 hours, but remember to peek every so often, stir, and check for doneness. Mine cooked faster than time suggested.
  • I served my chicken over brown rice and steamed broccoli.
