Healthy, frozen meals have certainly come a long way. Long gone are the days of frozen meals tasting like cardboard! And, the connivence is pretty much something that can’t be argued with.
Just recently T.J. and I tried these new Healthy Choice entrees from ConAgra Foods. Even though I’ve tried Healthy Choice in the past, it was nice to see all of the new options they have to offer. We purchased the Healthy Choice 100% Natural Tortellini Primavera Parmesan. It was actually part of a large selection at my local Target. Cost was about $2.00. Can’t beat that price!
The directions were different than I remembered, but this was one of their steam fresh options. Simply remove the meal from the outer box and pop into the microwave for 5 minutes. No hole punching required. You could hear the food cooking away. It sounded like a tea pot whistling at times which made my dog totally puzzled.
We ate these meals for lunch and I have got to tell you that they were absolutely delicious. The portion was just right and you can see and taste how fresh the veggies and tortellini are. Coming from a highly critical foodie and pregnant Mama I think that is saying a lot. 🙂
More and more often I find myself buying frozen meals for our lunches and the occasional dinner. They are super easy, cut down on the cost of my husband buying a lunch for $10 a day and are completely healthful. Another one of our favorites for lunch is the delicious Marie Callender’s chicken pot pies. They are totally satisfying and I love the personal size which will easily feed me and G on those nights that T.J. works late.
