Maternity Monday | Let’s Talk Makeup!

Being pregnant can sometimes get me down. Especially when all I do most days are play with the toddler, run household errands, or clean. I’ll admit that most days I don’t even get a chance to wash my face {skin is wicked dry so that’s not all that bad- a whole other story}. Where does the time go sometimes?

When I do leave the house I like to spruce myself up a bit. Hell, sometimes I just put makeup on to give myself a pick me up…even if I’m only wearing leggings and a T.

I thought I’d share with you what is in my makeup drawer at the moment. Most of these items can get me looking fresh in an instant with little effort.

  1. YoungBlood Hi-Definition Mineral Powder – Worth the price of $37.00 but totally transforms your skin and a little goes a long way. Get camera-ready skin with YoungbloodÕs new Hi-DEF Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder. This multi-tasking product hydrates and refreshes skin, locking in moisture while absorbing oil and mattifying shine. ItÕs a high-performance, sheer powder that expertly diffuses imperfections for a flawless finish. If youÕre excessively oily or live in a high-humidity area, you will love how it keeps your makeup fresh and matte for hours. If you have ruddy skin, this powder is perfect for you; itÕs infused with licorice root extract, which calms and conceals redness. With YoungbloodÕs Hi-DEF Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder, you truly can have a complexion so flawless, it almost looks airbrushed.
  2. Maybelline Dream Finish BB Cream – Picked this up at Target for less than $10 on sale! Miracle worker I tell ya! 1 Fl oz BB creams combine skincare + makeup in 1 simple step 8-in-1 Skin Perfector: – Blurs imperfections – Brightens – Evens skin tone – Smoothes – Hydrates – Enhances – Protects with SPF 30 – 0% oils and heavy ingredients ? For Best Results: Apply smoothly and evenly to your face and blend with your fingertips.
  3. Tarte Cheek Stain –  I’ve had this tube for a while now. You can wear this blush with or without makeup and you can control the application very easily. Love the mild scent and is long lasting. $30 at Sephora.
  4. Model Co. Shine Ultra Lip Gloss – Got this full size tube of shine in one of my Birchbox’s. I love the built in mirror and the non-sticky formula glides on evenly. $16.00

  5. NAKED Eye Palette by Urban Decay – I asked for this for Christmas and Santa hooked me up! Comes with the primer potion too which really makes your eyeshadow last and last. A bit pricey at $50 but you totally get your $$ worth on this baby.
  6. Stila All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer – another treat from my Birchbox which at first I thought was lip gloss. Ha! A lightweight, skin-enhancing liquid luminizer that highlights and adds luster to the skin. $20 and a dab will do ya! Lightly apply to cheeks, brow bone, and décolleté and blend with fingertips.
  7. Almay wake-up eyeliner plus highlighter – My friend recently told me about this so I was curious when she said she bought every single color. I headed out to my local drug store and there it was. I grabbed coffee buzz/iced buff {on sale for about $10} and have been using it almost every day since. a dual ended eyeliner + highlighter is designed to brighten and define your eyes for a well-rested, energized look. the innovative highlighter instantly cools and refreshes eyes upon application, while the eyeliner glides on smoothly to define eyes with rich color impact.
  8. L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara – I’ve been loyal to this brand since high school. Its a division of Lancome and the quality is always consistent. And a steal at around $8.00

So, what’s in your beauty bag lately?

  1. that is my FAVORITE mascara. Every now and then I stray from it, try something ‘new’ and realize that I was so wrong. And then I go crawling back to my L’Oreal Voluminous, begging for forgiveness 😉

  2. I like to give myself a little winter boost with make-up too. That band of mascara is a life-saver. I have no lashes without it! I’m excited to try these items, especially the cheek stain. Thanks!

  3. brand, sorry.

  4. I love peeking not other people’s makeup bags! Thanks for sharing yours! lately I’ve been loving Urban Decay Eyeliner, Clinique Even Better Foundation, and Anastasia eyeshadows!

  5. Great list! As a… ahem… “older gal”, I also love a little lift! I adore Naked Eye Palette, and you’ve also given me lots of new ideas. Thanks for the post!

  6. Love this! I am happy to see you have YoungBlood, Tarte and Urban Decay on your list as they are all paraben free products!

  7. I should try that mascara. I am neverh appy with what I get!!

  8. Believe it or not, I have yet to try a BB cream (gasp, I know) and I saw young blood at my hair salon but wondered if worth the price. Thx for the tips!

  9. Great post! Quick q…. do you like this young blood mineral makeup better than bare minerals? I use bare minerals & am pretty satisfied with it!

    • Now that I have tried both I prefer the YoungBlood. I have several of their other products too and keep going back. I always felt the Bare Minerals made my skin feel dry or showed more of the dry skin. In the Winter, my skin is super dry and especially being pregnant this Winter. YoungBlood also makes a fantastic primer that I love even without makeup just to give my skin that smooth and quenched feeling.

  10. I am a makeup junkie, so I am loving this post 🙂 I also use Tarte stain and LOVE it (although it took me awhile to figure out how to use it). I am also a big BB cream lover too – I’ve been using the L’Oreal brand. Love seeing what’s in other ladies’ make up bags!

  11. LOVE Urban Decay and the naked pallet, it’s a must!

  12. Oh, i wanna try the liquid luminizer and the model co. lip gloss! i love learning about new makeup finds. I’m totally gonna try them out… thanks for posting this!

  13. After losing my WHOLE makeup bag on the train (pulled pump out… and lost bag in the process), this post is amazing! Simple makeup that’s good for the skin and not terribly priced! Thank you!!!

  14. These days I’m wearing Mac Studio Fix powder, some bronzed from the drug store and Loreal double extend mascara. But I’ll admit, no makeup for me today! Lol

  15. What a great list! I use cheek stain and love it! I love luminizer but never tried Stilla! I will know! Thanks so much! What great ideas!

  16. I just started using a Mary Kay foundation primer and it is awesome! It makes the foundation go on so smoothly! Fun peak inside yor make-up bag!
