NUK Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker

NUK Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend Baby Food Maker :: Things I wished I had for my first born!

When G first started solids…way back when…I wanted to make sure she has the freshest foods. So, what did I do? I took matters into my own hands of course! I bought books on how to make first purees, did research, and bought some simple plastic food storage containers. I had pots and pans, a steamer basket, and a food processor so I figured I was all set.

Um, I would have been all set if I had nothing else to do all day and have a baby to watch. This took way too much time and I was totally discouraged and so was my husband when he saw my frustration. Combine that with the problem of not having a dishwasher, where we lived at the time, and it was pretty much a disaster.

So, after a lot of effort and disappointment I gave up and started purchasing her first foods. And, that was a huge expense. One of the reasons I wanted to make it myself because the savings was huge in addition to me being able to control the ingredients.

I came across several baby food makers online, but at the time they just didn’t fit into our budget and most were super involved or hard to clean. So, we continued to buy her foods. And, there is nothing wrong with buying baby foods, its just not what I had envisioned for us.

Here comes baby #2 due in just 10 weeks and I was super excited to be able to receive and review the NUK Freshfoods Cook-n-Blend! Finally I would be able to give this a go again!

Yesterday was the first time I opened the box. I noticed that there were very few pieces and the assembly took about a minute. So far so good! I decided to make some applesauce for G and myself since we are both under the weather with colds and she is still cutting some teeth. I figured some nice, warm applesauce would do us both some good.

  1. That is definitely cool! I never tried making my kids’ baby food when they were little but this would have made it much easier.

  2. I loved making baby food, but I stuck with a blender because of the cost of the machines. Then Addie decided she just wanted to eat chunks of food at like 8 months and at 10 months she wanted larger chunks. I miss my baby and those nights where I stayed up making food for the week.
My favorite things to make are those where I add little extra spices, like nutmeg in sweet potatoes, paprika in ground turkey, or garlic into spinach. Yummy to taste test!

  3. What a cool product!! I totally would have used this with Zane!

  4. So cool! I’m seeing this all over the place and before that I didn’t even know it existed! I’d use it now to make my three year old apple sauce!

  5. We LOVE ours! I can’t wait until baby #2 gets here, so I can bring this bad boy out again. 🙂

  6. Crazy question.. I have this and I love it, but is there a way to clean the water resovoir? Help! Can’t find anything online about it.

    • Do a steam cook without any food to rinse the gunk out. Also could use a tsp of vinegar with water and keep rinsing clean until no more smell of vinegar.

  7. I purchased this item used and it did not come with an instruction manual. Can anyone tell me how and where to put the water???
