Mama Wants to Nest
If you have ever been pregnant before you know what I’m talking about right off the bat.
There comes a point toward the end of your pregnancy where you get these burst of energy and want to accomplish everything big and small as a way to prepare for the arrival of your little one. This comes in waves and can strike at a moments notice. Whether it be extreme cleaning, building something, shopping or some other random act that you feel puts you that closer to some relief of readiness.
At this point in my pregnancy with G, her room was set, everything was in its place, clothes were washed and tucked neatly into drawers. Diapers and wipes stood at the ready. I think all I did was clean the house over and over again, get my hospital bag ready, and take a lot of naps.
Nothing even close to that is happening now and I am a little over four weeks out until my due date.
Did I mention we are in the midst of packing and moving into a new house within the next two weeks?
How can I accomplish all my nesting activities?! I feel a strong urge to get organized and be prepared for the birth of my second daughter. Where do I begin?! Instead I’m continuing to clean a condo that I won’t be living at when she is born because that feels like something is getting done.
I can’t pack. Belly is just too big and in the way. I can’t really nap because G isn’t into napping and I surely can’t nap and leave her in charge.
I’ve washed all G’s newborn clothes and have dedicated a few drawers in my own bureau for the new babe. Why? Because baby sister-to-be has no furniture. Not one piece to speak of. TJ and I can’t get it together and decide on a bassinet. He is a crib and bassinet snob and isn’t afraid to tell anyone. Blah blah blah. I’m all like let’s just use the pack and play and call it a day. I hope we can decide on something this weekend and its available on Amazon so we can get it in a couple days with Prime shipping.
Oh, one last thing, even though the semester is over and T.J. has a few weeks off, the day after we move into the new house he starts teaching a summer session. It’s two days a week, but that leaves me…in a new house… with a bunch of stuff to unpack…and a dog and a toddler to entertain.
Maybe it’s time to schedule the hospital tour I’ve been putting off and plan for some grandparents to come for an extended visit just in case I go into labor!
Maybe an ice cream sandwich will fix this right up? I guess it doesn’t hurt to try it. 🙂
