Wordless Wednesday :: Our New Favorite Book

Wordless Wednesday :: Our New Favorite Book

Well, its never really wordless is it? 🙂

We recieved this book just last week and every day since G has been wanting to read it over and over. Although I had never heard of it before, this year commemorates the tenth anniversary of Mo Williems’ award winning Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! And, this is just one of several titles published by this three-time Caldecott Honor recipient.

Williems’ book gives an entertaining look at one of the hardest lessons learned. What happens when you little one wants to do something? Something you know that is dangerous or they just aren’t of age to do yet? You respond with a, “no.” Well, I know for certain in our house, with an almost 2.5 year old little gal, a “no” can turn into a debate, more questioning, and even a tantrum once in a while. Yikes!  This book carefully covers that process from start to finish in a clever and fun way using just a little bit of language.

We love this book and have already order more from the series! The illustrations are adorable and I love the size and font of the text. Its a perfect length story too so you tot won’t get bored. Be prepared to read it over and over again! You won’t mind though, because each time you read it you and your tot will have a giggle!

Here is a little video I captured of G “reading” the book to me!

These sketches have always been the well from which Willems draws ideas and inspiration. Featuring a foreword by Eric Carle and an introduction by Willems, this volume includes all twenty sketchbooks from the last two decades.
  • A Big Guy Took My Ball! (An Elephant & Piggie Book) (Pub Date: May 21), $8.99—Elephant and Piggie, Willems’ Geisel Award-winning duo, will also have a new tale of their own.
