Closing Time

Closing Time

We officially closed on our first home Friday afternoon. It all seems so odd and strange to consider ourselves homeowners. Still wondering at what point it will all sink in and feel real?

We went to our lawyers office to sign all the final closing documents around 4pm on Friday after dealing with some nasty rush hour traffic.

We brought G with us which of course made listening a bit difficult. Does anyone really read all the fine print? Good grief. I feel like we have been signing documents for months already so I was surprised to see so many more that also needed our signatures.

Then, we forked over the biggest check either of us have ever seen. I imagined we could have gone to Hawaii for a long time on that kind of cash. But, now we have a whole entire house to do whatever we want with. No one can tell us what to do, how to fix it, or what color to paint it. So, it’s a win for sure.

They handed us the keys and we left the office after about an hour. I was pretty much sweating the whole time too. Ya know its just about 2.5 weeks until my due date and its nearly 100 degrees already. Air conditioning or not, I’m sweating.

We went to the Cheesecake Factory for a quick bite and headed home completely exhausted from the whole day and experience. Emotions were high all day with anticipation so we were wiped out.

Then there is G. I don’t think this experience is helping her terrible twos at all. She is especially defiant lately and her sleep is disrupted. I’m guessing her emotions are completely screwed too. She is really excited to be going to “the new yellow house” and tells us all the time. I just think the process of us getting there is messing with her. I guess that’s to be expected. When we moved last year she was a year younger and nothing seemed to phase her. Now that she is older and clearly understands what is going on she is acting out her emotions.

I can not tell you how relieved we will all be once the movers come here on Monday and finally take all this stuff to the other house once and for all.

We went there today to wait for deliveries and just hang out a bit, put some things away and make a list of things we need to buy.

G ran around in her glory since the place is empty. She totally burt off a ton of energy and then zonked out in the car once we left. Today was one day I didn’t mind a car nap!

So if you are bored and want to see our progress over the next couple of days you can keep up on Instagram . Nothing like photographing all the memories.

Hope you are keeping cool this weekend!

  1. It has been too hot here too 🙂 I am not a fan of the heat! My youngest had a horrible time with the terrible twos, so I completely understand!

  2. So exciting! We were just talking lately about finding our forever home, while we love the one we live in now we want more land! It is so nice to be able to do what you want and not have to worry about landlords etc! Can’t wait to see the progress
