I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Haribo. I received product samples, and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
I was a child of the 80s. Watching Saturday morning cartoons was something I really looked forward too. Yea, we didn’t have cartoons that aired on the TV 24/7 back then and cable was a brand new idea. You were pretty much a big deal if you had cable TV in your house.
Smurfs was one of my all time favorite shows. There was something so interesting about watching a bunch of blue characters tend to their daily routines and all with their different little personalities. It was always entertaining. I remember my parents bringing me to Smurfs on Ice and I was just mesmerized watching the Smurfs come to life in human size on ice. Of course I had toy figurines, and pieces of their little Smurf village so I could use my own imagination on the days leading up to my Saturday morning cartoon fix! 🙂
It wasn’t until the first Smurfs movie came out that I recalled those memories of looking forward to Saturday mornings and sharing thirty minutes with the Smurfs and their little village of mushrooms.
Now, as a mother of two daughters, I am thrilled to pass on the same memories to each of them. Not only is there one Smurf movie, but Smurfs 2 was released into theaters on July 31st just in time for summer! Forget waiting for Saturday morning cartoons, now we can watch the Smurfs come to life whenever we like!
