Weekend Recap
We have a busy week coming up!
Halloween!
G’s 3rd birthday party! EEK!
I’m feeling overwhelmed over here. G’s birthday party is Saturday. We are hosting the party at our own home for the first time. I’m excited for family and friends to make the drive from Rhode Island to Connecticut to see where we decided to put down some roots, meet baby Val for the first time, and celebrate G’s third birthday!
This weekend we spent a lot of time trying to overcome the week that was toddler tantrum week. It. Was. Exhausting. I compared it to Shark Week except I can turn off the TV. Trying to successfully turn of a tantrum-ing toddler is basically impossible. Every single day G has been fighting us on something. Bedtime has become a mess. Our schedule is upside down. It was time to regroup for sure.
G is now technology free. No iPad and no TV. Even the little bit of iPad and TV time that she was allowed was too much. She needs to detox. So far, she had one major meltdown on Saturday morning because she couldn’t watch Disney Jr. on the iPad. Sunday and today she has asked for it, but no meltdown so clearly progress there. Her usual routine was to watch her shows on the iPad and drink some milk while Daddy and I drank coffee, I fed Val, and we got ready for our day. Now, she reads books and plays with her toys. Whew. We will be technology free for at least a week. Now, I can actually use my iPad! 🙂
Saturday we went and enjoyed some ice cream and put our order in for the Winter at Ferris Acre Creamery. Mmmmm. Freezing cold temperatures don’t stop us from enjoying our cold treats. Hands down, the best ice cream TJ and I have ever eaten. I had an apple crisp sundae. Yikes! And, it seems that Val has officially overcome her dairy issue. I’m not going to go crazy and binge on dairy, but at least once a day I’ll let myself have a little something.
Sunday we spent most of the day outside raking tons of leaves. Like, tons. G and Val really enjoy the cool Fall air, but really who doesn’t. TJ had Val in the Ergo while he raked and G ran around in the leave piles.
I spent some time going through some more of our “stuff”. Now that we have moved into our own home its nice to unpack once and for all and get rid of the things we no longer need. I don’t have to save curtains that might “work” in an apartment or shower curtains and other home goods. Not to mention the tons of baby items and clothing we have accumulated. We are settled in, I don’t need these things and I am happy to pass them along to others through my donations at Big Brothers Big Sisters. I love this organization and they even pick the items up right from my house.
Oh, and our heat is on. Burr…temps in the 30s in the morning. So much for Fall coats and sweater weather. Seems like we are headed straight for Winter.
I hope you had a great weekend!

Boo for toddler meltdowns! When we babysit our niece and nephew, that is my biggest headache. I’m sure raking leaves isn’t fun, but I miss “seasons”…your weekend sounds great, chickie!
I give you a lot of credit for going tech free! I wish I could do that in our household. I am not brave enough! Yah for G’s third bday party!!
