Word-full Wednesday :: First Day of Preschool
Last week I mentioned that it was G’s first day of preschool. Well, that didn’t go exactly to plan.
The night before, what we thought would be her first day, she has the worse night sleep of her life. It. Was. Awful. And, ended with her waking for the day at 4:30am!
This was no way to start a day of preschool. At 7am she could barely function. It was a dark, cold, and pouring buckets rain kind of day. It was also T.J.’s longest work day of the week. We are talking long, like he leaves around 5:30am and returns around 10pm. Thursday are not our friends in this house.
It was then I decided that it just wasn’t meant to be on this day. Plus, she wouldn’t have a full week, which is only two days, but still. We waited until the following Tuesday for her to start her preschool journey.
Then, we had our first official snow of the season on what was no going to be her first day. As soon as she woke, and saw the flakes flying by her window, all she wanted was to get outside and play.
Instead we got her ready for school.
T.J. dropped her off, which worked out well because she will attend on his work days. Due to the Monday holiday he had Tuesday off. He was able to see what the school was like and meet the teachers and staff.
She was a bit hesitant at first, but soon jumped right in. T.J. stayed for a bit in the parents room just in case she needed some reassurance.
When he returned around noon to pick G up she cried on the car ride home because she didn’t want to leave. A good sign? 🙂
When she got back home she ate a huge lunch. Huge. Turkey, cheese, popcorn, an apple, yogurt, and banana chocolate chip bread!
Then, we undoubtably figured she would take a nap. We tried. And it was a fail. I seriously think we have the ONLY child who has gone for the first day of preschool and not napped. Maybe she will on Thursday! I’m going to remain hopeful!
I desperately tried to get a photo and this was the best I got. I wanted to have her outside in front of the front door, but the snow. She would have taken off into the winter wonderland like a shot.
