Highlights for the Holidays! #MMHolidayGiftGuide

Disclosure: I received one or the more following items for free. Regardless, I only recommend products that are a good fit for my readers and I personally use.

G likes to hide-and-find.  You know, hide something from us, then ask us where it is as if she doesn’t know where it is, only then to show us where she hid it.  She’s primed for Highlights Hidden Pictures series.

Exclusively at Barnes and Noble, you can buy 15 new Hidden Picture books at Barnes & Noble for children in the age groups 4 and up, 6 and up, and 8 and up. The books are just $9.95 and each contains over 80 pages of find-it fun. While we do the two-hour drive to Grandma and Papa’s house around the holidays, we’ll give a few of these to G to keep her occupied.  What’s really cool about these Hidden Pictures books is the stickers.  G loves stickers, and these books have them so that she can stick them where she finds the corresponding picture.  I can imagine the car talk: “You found the piece of pizza on the page?  Great, now find the pizza sticker.  Found it?  Now you can put it on the pizza on the page.  No, not on your eye.  No, pirates don’t wear pizza on their eyes.  That’s patches.  No…oh well, it’s cool you found the pizza.”

HIghlights Hidden Pictures Club

Some of the pages of the books can also be great for coloring, so she’ll have something to do as soon as she gets to Grandma and Papa’s.  If she’s “not in the mood” for coloring, she can work on a Hidden Pictures jigsaw puzzle with Grandma, then find the hidden objects on the puzzle like she did in the book during our car ride.  She really loves puzzles–it’s really the only thing that she’ll do by herself for a few minutes–so maybe we should hold off on the puzzle until parents and grandparents need a quick breather from this threenager’s nonstop playtime.
