Instagram Photo Frame {DIY}

Instagram Photo Frame {DIY}

In our family, gifts for the grandparents are always homemade. I mean, what do you buy people who already have it all?

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to print the pictures I take with my iPhone. I mean, I usually have at least a thousand or more saved to the phone at a time. Why aren’t I displaying those photos? Its so affordable to print these photos and the options are endless. Photo books, square prints, canvas prints, stickers, magnets and more. Yet, mine stay confined to my iPhone camera roll? Its basically ridiculous.

This year I wanted to do something specifically with my Instagram photos and I had seen a few ideas floating around. I wanted to make something for the grandparents that gave them easy access to the prints so when I mail them new prints they can easily swap them around.

I went to my local Michael’s store and grabbed my supplies. Total cost for the materials from Michael’s was less than $40.00. I used my handy Walgreens app to print my Instagram photos and that cost around $10.00.

  • 3 black frames. For this project the frames I chose were size 11″x14″. (on sale for $6.99 each)
  • small spool of hemp rope
  • mini clothes pins, 3 packages. In case some break its a good idea to give your recipient a few extra.
  • At home I already had my hot glue gun, scissors, drill, screwdriver, and screws.

Remove glass and backing from your frame. Discard or save for another project.

step 2 instagram frame

 Remove hanging hardware from frame back and refasten to frame using the drill, screw and screwdriver.

step 3 instagram frame

Measure your rope and attach to each side of the frame using hot glue. Its a good idea to roll the rope in the hot glue to get a strong hold.

Do this three times or as many as you can fit on your frame.

Instagram Photo Frame Finally you can attach your pins and photos!

I love this gift and all the grandparents LOVED it. I’m so glad too because now I can quickly print and ship the cute, square photos from my phone and ship them off to each of their homes. This is a great way for them to keep a current set of photos displayed and they can swap them out and rearrange them any which way they like.

Now, I need to make one for myself! 🙂
