Organize all the Papers!

Organize all the Papers!

#spon: I’m required to disclose a relationship between our site and Fellowes. This could include the Fellowes providing us w/content, product, access or other forms of payment.

We’ve been in our first, new home, for a little over six months.

Although all the boxes are unpacked, we are still knee deep in files and paperwork, receipts and old statements. Much of the paperwork we have holds valuable information that could easily put us in a bad situation when put in the hands of the wrong person.  This is especially scary now that we are homeowners and our credit info is invaluable.

So, with tax season just around the corner its time for us streamline and organize all these files. One big impact to cutting back on all this paper is to shred all the old junk we just don’t need. We had healed onto so much paper, unsure of what would be necessary during our home purchase. Seriously, we had kept so much that we didn’t even need, and did you know, most documents can easily be brought up online? 🙂

We’ve been shredding a ton here over the past few weeks. Luckily our Fellows shredder has been up for the task! We first recieved the Fellows P-12C shredder back in December, but then the holidays came and everything was a blur. I shredded a few things here and there which made for excellent package fill for those gifts that had to be shipped. But, there just wasn’t enough time to tackle this huge task.

We’ve whittled the paper mess down to a single file drawer! That is amazing! Seriously feels so good. I hope that after the taxes are all settled we can purge even more paper. 🙂

Another resolution to tackling our paperwork is to shred junk mail/paper statements before it has a chance to make its way into our house. We have our shredder set up in the laundry room which we access through the garage when we arrive home. The shredder has a small footprint which is awesome because space is always at a premium.

The Fellows shredder is so easy to use and I love the safety features. With two small girls and tiny fingers, a powerful shredder is certainly a safety concern. This shredder has SafeSense® technology which automatically disables the shredder when a hand touches the paper opening. Whew!
