Reading Eggs // Read To Cure Challenge

Of all the toys and things we have for G to entertain herself, what brings her the most joy and excitement is when we read her books. We have been collecting books since she was born and we have a huge collection.reading eggs

Now that she is three, she is getting frustrated because she can’t read the words. Sure, she can “read” by looking at the pictures, but we often hear her telling us she is upset because she can’t read. I mean, she is three!

T.J. and I love to read. Its been a big part of our lives since before we had children. Whether it be magazines or books, we usually have something going. I am so glad that G has the same love of books and reading that we do. 🙂

So, you can bet how excited I was to learn about Reading Eggs! Reading Eggs is an online/iPad app that is geared for children ages 3-7 year olds which fits in perfectly with our daughters growing needs. We have been using the iPad app with G for about a week  now and she really enjoys how interactive it is and gets really excited when progresses. As you complete a lesson you unlock additional levels. It makes learning both a challenge and a reward.

Initially when we downloaded the app, we were prompted with a reading assessment. Since G is a beginner reader, we skipped over the assessment and dove right in. The app is full of beautiful colors and is very easy to navigate. We have enjoyed sitting along side G as she uses the app and I think, in our case, its important for us to sit together during this activity just in case she has a question. And, let me tell you, a three year old likes to ask questions! 🙂

This is what G’s map looks like so she can see her progress and choose her activity. This is such an awesome way to make books interactive.

This app couldn’t have come at a better time. G has been so sick, literally in bed with a virus, and we have had so much snow, that we have been able to keep her occupied and entertained while learning to read! Reading Eggs is fun for the whole family.
