Valentina’s Baptism

Valentina’s Baptism

Val is just a week shy of 11 months young.

For our family traditions, this is considered late for a baptism. Traditionally, we baptize the kids at three months.

Val was born in late June of 2013, we had moved into our new house only two weeks earlier, to say the next few months weren’t insane would be an understatement. Once November came, it was Gabriella’s birthday, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas and then SNOW SNOW SNOW until April. All of these conditions make family travel nearly impossible. Our close family and friends are a two hour car ride away.

So, here we are, May of 2014, and we picked the most perfect Spring day. Sunday was amazing. The sky was blue, the breeze was cool, the sun was shining and friends and family gathered for Val’s baptism.

The parish we joined a few months ago has been amazing. St. Rose Church in Newtown, CT has the most wonderful community and has welcomed us as new parishioners. Just another confirmation that we made a great decision to move here.

I started with invitations from Tiny Prints, my go-to for all of my stationary needs. This invitation was just stunning and I was able to build the rest of my party design around it. I opted to add the pearl white shimmer for the additional ten cents a card and I really think that is what made it pop.

The rest of my decor was fairly simple. I bought white pom poms and hung them from the windows behind the server in my dining room. I just love to decorate with white for the simplicity and crispness. I added a few glittered white branches to my existing bouquet of pussy willows. I bought a white plastic tablecloth that had the illusion of lace and for a plastic tablecloth it really looked nice. Some silver and white square plates, a beautiful peony centerpiece and my homemade cross cookies as favors.

I had the food catered which really made things easy. Typically I would have cooked, but with two small children and twenty guests, sometimes that just isn’t an option.

Most of our day was spent outdoors because the weather was just so perfect. The cousins ran around in the yard and has a blast.

Val’s dress was provided to me by Dantelle Bebe, a Canadian boutique that creates one of a kind, hand knitted christening dresses and outfits. Stay tuned for my feature post tomorrow. Here is a sneak peek of Val in her one of a kind gown.

  1. She’s so perfect (and I LOVE her name)! I hope we can have baby 2 baptized close to her birth, as we did with Addie… but I feel like we won’t have as much time. Maybe having a bit more time isn’t such a bad thing- it looks like your celebration was beautiful!
