Have You Tried McDonald’s Premium Salads Yet?

Yesterday I picked my girls up from camp at noon – everyone was super hungry and I just wasn’t in the mood to go back home and make lunches. What is it about the beautiful summer days that keep me from being in my kitchen? Maybe the sun!?
On the way home the kids were having a pool noodle fight in the back of the van while I was driving. That set the tone for eating lunch out! I could see how the rest of the day was going to be and I didn’t want to go back home just yet. HaHa!
I decided to take the longer route home so I could drive through the local McDonald’s and grab lunch to eat outside at the park before we went home for much needed nap time. Of course the kids wanted Happy Meals, and I wanted a big salad. Ya know when you are just craving a big, crunchy salad – that was me!
I ordered the kids meals – they were pumped to get Chicken Nuggets and the new Minion toy and me, a Southwest Grilled Chicken Salad. This is my favorite salad McDonald’s offers because it has freshly grilled chicken, black beans, roasted corn and tomatoes, poblano peppers, a fresh lime, cheddar and jack cheese, chili-lime tortillas strips, and cilantro. This is all atop crisp chopped romaine, baby spinach, baby kale, red leaf lettuce, and ribbon cut carrots! The Newman’s Own Southwest dressing seals the deal!
Everything is so fresh and you can tell. I love that because I have had some fast food salad fails in the past. I am always guaranteed a fresh salad when I return to McDonald’s.
I am obsessed with this salad and less than 500 calories! That is a great amount of food for me at lunchtime to keep me powering through the rest of the day with my kids. This salad give me 2.5 cups of veggies as part of my daily intake. Another win and I had no idea.
I can’t skip lunch – and I can’t always put something this delicious and satisfying together in a rush so I love that I can get this salad at my local McDonald’s.
I saved $2 on my total order yesterday using the McDonald’s app. Have you downloaded it yet? Each day there are several new offers like buy 1 get 1 and dollars off your purchase.
