I’m always looking to switch up our products. I mean, we all get bored and there are so many new items available every day that I’m intrigued to try.
Toothpaste can be so personal. I am pretty critical about my choice of toothpaste. I want my teeth to feel refreshed and clean, but my teeth are also a bit sensitive so some of the mainstream brands just don’t work. I also don’t like super strong flavoring added to my toothpaste – I’d rather have a mild flavor for two reasons, one what if I want to eat or drink after toothbrushing and two I just don’t like the inside of my mouth tasting like I chewed a pack of gum. Like I said, this is truly a personal preference.
Several years back my husband and I started trying different natural toothpastes. Some were gritty, some tasted awful, some had no flavor which left us feeling like we didn’t even brush our teeth. Lots of trial and error.
Recently we’ve been trying several flavors from Himalaya Botanique. This brand was totally new to me – I had never even heard of it before so I was excited to test it out seeing how I’m so judgmental about toothpaste! Ha!
There are six varieties to choose from. Two flavors of whitening – simply peppermint and simply mint and four flavors of complete care – simply cinnamon, simply peppermint, simply mint, and simply spearmint. I tried the simply mint whitening first. I often choose a toothpaste that is also for teeth whitening because I am a coffee drinker and I don’t like having teeth that are anything but pearly white.
I was surprised to find how gentle this toothpaste was especially with my tooth sensitivity. My mouth feels clean and the paste has a nice taste and texture. This formulation uses a combination of Pineapple and Papaya enzymes to whiten and the mint to freshen your breath. This toothpaste is fluoride free, sodium lauryl sulfate free, carrageenan free, and gluten free.
Himalaya Botanique uses a different approach to ingredients. Using Neem, Pomegranate, Triphala, Xylitol from birth tree, and papain & bromelain.
Neem – cleans teeth and gives this formulation its sparkle. Need is history’s original housekeeper and works to keep the mouth clean. Pomegranate – an astringent fruit extract that helps support healthy looking gums. Triphala – a traditional detox formula in ancient Ayurveda composed of the three myrobalan fruits for clean teeth and a radiant smile. Xylitol from birch tree – not only a tooth-friendly sweetener, but it has also been clinically studied to support good oral hygiene. Papain & Bromelain – the enzymes from papaya and pineapple help remove surface stains, so your smile shines brighter! (only found in the two whitening varieties.
