First Day of First Grade
Today is a beautiful Spring-like? Fall-like? day here in Connecticut. A perfect day for the first day back to school for my first born, Gabriella.
Yesterday she was kind of a mixed bag of emotions. She is a pretty sensitive gal and knowing that today was the first day had her a bit anxious. She was all over the place, kind of out of sorts, and I figured it was anxiety about getting back to school. Not a bad anxiety, but more like anxiously excited and ready to see what first grade was all about.
She visited our bedroom overnight three separate times. Two times asking for hugs! T.J. would already be at work when she got on the bus and she was missing him. This schedule we have from September to June is chaotic. And this year even more so with three kids in school and three kids with activities and Daddy gone long hours. Did I mention I also joined the PTO this year as a co-treasurer? Why not add another log to the fire!? HA!
It will take a good month before we find our groove and can adjust to this new norm. Trying not to stress and make the adjustment as smooth as possible.
Gabriella is a strong student so I know she will be just fine. I am looking forward to seeing how the first grade curriculum differs from the Kindergarten. Over the summer Gabriella completed the library reading challenge and also had to complete some reading for First grade. She LOVES to read. She always was so frustrated that she couldn’t and now that she can she will tell us how happy she is that she CAN READ!
So, we shall see what Gabriella feels like after a long day at school. I’m sure she will be wiped out. Glad tomorrow is Friday and we have a long weekend! WOOHOO!
If you have kids going back I wish them a great school year! Time to go rest while my little 2 nap and get ready for that late afternoon time/dinner prep/baths and bed routine!
