My Word of the Year // 2018
Do you ever find yourself wondering when you last took a deep breath?
I remember when my kids were infants watching them breath as they slept in my arms. They would completely fill their lungs with air as they breathed in and out. I always found it so fascinating and while I watched them I took a moment and tried to be mindful I was doing the same. Trying to keep a breathing rhythm with them as they slept.
Guys it feels really good to take a full deep breath. You probably don’t notice, but this isn’t something we do well as adults. Being so busy and our minds going 100 miles a minute doesn’t leave much time for deep breaths.
That is why this year I want to focus more on breathing. That seems simple enough no? When I have a few minutes, waiting for preschool pickup, at the bus stop, when I’m in bed at the end of the day trying to sleep!
My days are so busy. I’m always checking the clock making sure we all are to be somewhere on time. From 6am to 11pm it is go go go. And yes, 11pm is when I finally call it quits most nights. After the kids go to bed I clean up the kitchen, get the lunches partly ready, blog, check email, and maybe watch a bit of TV! I like my days busy, I’m not gonna lie, but at what cost? If you are a Mom there is NO DOUBT you can relate.
Remember last week I spoke about my goal to read more this year? Well, I found a good book to add to that ever-growing list. The title is perfect for this post too. Breathe, Mama, Breathe: 5-Minute Mindfulness for Busy Moms by, Shonda Moralis.
My word of the year for 2017 is BREATHE! What is yours?
