Time to Fill Those Easter Baskets
Are your kid’s Easter baskets ready for Easter morning?
I feel a bit behind the ball here. With Easter just a week from this Sunday I usually have several items purchased and in each of the kids Easter baskets. That is not the case as of today. There is ONE small box of Jelly Belly jelly beans in each basket. HA!
During bath time tonight I clicked into my Amazon phone app to see what I might find before heading out to the stores. Trouble is, when I am at the store and see something I want to buy, I have one or all of the kids with me! That was no big deal when they were little and oblivious, but now they are aware. I cannot hide a thing from any one of them.
Fingers crossed I can get some things ordered online from Amazon TONIGHT. I’m thinking of leaving the kids with T.J. for a few hours this weekend and head out to a few stores.
I think one of the big reasons I’ve held off so long buying Easter basket items is because when I look around my house I am like, “WHAT THE HECK could I buy for these baskets that my kids don’t already have?!” I don’t want to fill up basket with a bunch of junk or just add to some collection of things they already have.
There are a few items that I ALWAYS add to their baskets each year. playdough, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, and a pair of spring/summer shoes. With the warmer days coming up (I hope) in the very near future these are items that we just are always using up.
I like to include at least one craft type item. My kids love to craft! My seven year old is really into Rainbow Loom and making bracelets and necklaces for everyone. I think I’ll add this book to her basket. She usually looks up patterns on her iPad, but I’d rather have her referencing a book.
Here are a few things I found on Amazon tonight and pulled the trigger on…yay for Prime shipping! A few of the items I just found too cute not to share!
My kids LOVE these Melissa and Doug Water WOW pads. Santa dropped some under the Christmas Tree and they are well-loved! So, I figured a few new replacements were a good idea! The Salt Water Sandals are a must for my three. They are a great compromise between a flip flop and a croc type shoe. These sandals take a beating all summer and they hold up! A bit of a splurge but look great with everything and real leather! Another Melissa & Doug item I often buy to give as birthday gifts are the stained glass art kits. I’ve never actually given them to my three, but I think this will be a great addition to their baskets. I know this will be an activity that they will each enjoy and then they can hang it in their bedroom windows to enjoy all season with each sunrise! The water bottle three pack is a great deal! My kids water bottles can get icky so quickly. We keep 2-3 in rotation for each kid, but with summer camp coming up I’d like to give them each a new bottle upgrade.
