Update // One Month of Barre Class
It has been one month and seven days exactly since I took my first step into my first Barre class. I’ve been going to class at least three to four times a week. Last week was my first week without classes, but with the husband out of town and Easter weekend it just wasn’t going to happen. I actually missed it!
I am feeling SO GOOD. I can see some major changes in my overall tone and I can see some muscles starting to peek out from where they once were! Who knew stretchy bands, two pound weights, a mat, a bar, and a few other items could give such results!?
It is truly amazing how this kind of exercise can tone you up! I am not doing lots of cardio, not jumping around sweating all over myself, but there are big results! I use to think I would have to have sweat pouring down every inch of my skin to be exercising. I use to Spin and Zoomba, and Kick-box. I’m so glad I’ve found Barre. It is perfect for me and what level of fitness I want in my life.
The studio I take Barre at is small and the classes range in size from 10-16 ladies at a time. I really love the smaller classes and to me it is almost like having a personal trainer. Our instructors are awesome and motivating and no one is shouting at me through a microphone! Gah, I am so not into that kind of motivation.
I have even managed to recruit a few friends! Even though they saw how I was whining about being a little sore every few days they were totally intrigued and gave it a shot!
I have to tell you about my activewear. I have been reusing some of the items I’ve had over the years along with some new pieces. Well, washing activewear is tricky. I mean, I don’t like to just lump it in hamper with the rest of the laundry for a few reasons. First, it is usually a bit sweaty and I don’t want that hanging around in the laundry basket for days waiting on a wash. Second, I don’t want to dry most of it. The dryer can be so hot that it can really mess up the fabric, elastic and turn a nice pair of leggings into a hot mess.
So, I separate my activewear out into a separate small bin and wash it ALONE. I also use a detergent that is just for these kinds of clothes. Rockin’ Green Active Wear Laundry Detergent is saving my activewear. Seriously because after a wash I felt like I could smell some funk in my clothes after class one day. I was FREAKING OUT that I had some body odor situation going on, but it was just my clothes holding onto the funk and the regular detergent wasn’t getting rid of it.
I totally use to use Rockin’ Green for Gabriella’s cloth diapers and I knew it worked for that situation. Well, I was totally shocked when after putting some activewear in the tub with a scoop of the Rockin’ Green the water was nasty after just a half an hour. Build up of who knows what was finally coming out. I had to use my tub because I have an HE washing machine and it doesn’t fill with water to soak clothes. I did ring out my clothes after the tub soak and run them through a wash cycle and then hung to dry. I can’t believe how good this works and I no longer have to worry about a funky smell.
Anyway, I am totally obsessed with Barre workouts. I miss it on the days my schedule doesn’t allow time for me to go.
