Weekend in Review // Photos
I know its been pretty quiet around here for the past few days. That is because four out of the five of us have been sick with some kind of wacky summer cold. Coughing, sneezing, high and low fevers. I thought I was gonna get away without getting sick myself, but when your three kids are sick and waking up at different times of the night, and you are awake with them, you get run down and then boom, you have what they have…but you got the worst of it.
Moms…man, we take a licking. We don’t get a *day off* when we are sick. There is still laundry to do, mouths to feed and bath, and everything else in between. The kids are feeling better but me, I’ve been with a hacking cough for a good three days. The kind of dry cough that makes you feel like you can’t catch your breath, your eyes are watering, and you feel like you’re gonna pass out. Super annoying.
Last night I had had enough and just wanted to get some sleep. I sent hubby to the local pharmacy to get me something…anything to quiet the cough down. Robitussin! Whoa! Just one taste I was transported back to being 10 years old. It worked though…no hot tea with honey, or natural remedy was working and this totally did the trick. Now, maybe, I can kick this cough goodbye once and for all. Ugh. I’m so exhausted from just coughing.
On Friday I ordered a bunch of elderberry for the entire family. Time to get back to our *regualar* immune boosting regiment especially with G starting school next week. I love that we can chew gummies rather than the syrup. The syrup is pretty thick and strong, so getting it down can be tricky.
Anyway, yesterday, Sunday, we were going totally stir crazy from all the days we’ve been inside with this cold. I wanted to get the kids out for a bit so we headed to our local favorite ice cream place, Ferris Acres, and then over to a beautiful garden that leads to Peter Rabbits house. I say it all the time, but we are super lucky to live where we do. Its so family oriented, safe, beautiful, with tons to do and we are just a 2 hour ride from our family in Rhode Island and the amazing beaches.
Everything we did yesterday is a short 15 minute drive from our house without getting on any highway. Its amazing! And we still have so much more to explore here.
The kids loved exploring these gardens. There are two little houses set off from a little wooded path. Its super mystical and imaginative and the girls just loved exploring every detail. They even went inside the house to explore even more! So many surprises and treasures. Its all they could talk about for the rest of the day.
Hope you had a lovely weekend!
