Marvelous In My Monday
It is a beautiful day here in Connecticut! I have the windows wide open for the first time in over a month. It feels glorious to have some cooler fresh air passing through the house. I can *almost* get a sense of Fall in the air.
Yesterday started the week long tax-free shopping week here on clothing so I’m getting in on that savings. I figure I’ll pick one store a week to shop and then we should be pretty much all set for the beginning of the year.
Took the kids to one of their favorite places, Rockin Jump. They had been asking for weeks and we needed an activity to get the energy out during another hot day. They had a blast and it was worth the $50 I paid for them to go right to sleep that night! LOL It was Anthony’s first time there on his feet and if you could have heard all the giggles! My heart was exploding and taking in all these little moments of my last little baby. I think I’ll be getting a family pass to this place with winter around the corner.
This weekend we stockpiled the pantry and fridge. With our regular schedule soon to begin – its time to get back to basics here with meals and routines.
This weeks menu includes:
- Sunday – pasta Bolognese, salad
- Monday – leftovers, salad
- Tuesday – Turkey meatloaf, steamed green beans, and roasted potatoes
- Wednesday – leftover meatloaf, cook fresh veggies
- Thursday – breakfast for dinner (pancakes/french toast, sausage, and eggs)
- Friday – pizza
- Saturday – grill chicken or burgers and hot dogs
I just found this site Once A Month Meals and I’m considering trying a membership. I’m looking more and more into these dinner subscriptions sites like Blue Apron, Hello Fresh, and One Potato to help ease the grind of cooking and prepping. This will be a big year for us as G transitions to all day Kindergarten, and Val goes to preschool plus all the activities like soccer, dance and swim. I’m wanting to continue to cook meals, but not feel stressed. Have you tried any of these? Is there a savings? We are a family of 5 and I want to make sure the cost is similar to our monthly food budget without going over.
Anyway, this week is about lots of chill time.
