Holiday Prep // Easter Basket Ideas
Easter is coming! Just a little over three weeks left to start prepping for Easter celebration – and my favorite Easter baskets! Once our family was complete, I ordered the Pottery Barn wicker baskets with liners and had them monogrammed with each kids name. I know they can be pricy, but if you catch a sale right (free shipping/free monogramming/a percentage off) it really isn’t too much. I say that because if you think of the cost of possibly buying a new basket each year – it can add up quick. If you need to grab baskets – these are adorable!
So, I always have the baskets as on hand. Shortly after Valentine’s Day I dig them out and set them in a space in the basement that is easy access for me to fill them up as I grab things. The kids haven’t found my hiding spot…yet!
I don’t like to buy candy for their baskets. We have several Easter egg hunts before and on Easter so they certainly get their fill of candy. What I like to grab for their baskets are items that they can use in the upcoming season – practical items that are also fun!
My first stop is always Target – man, if you don’t hit up the seasonal dollar spot here in Connecticut once it is set forget it, you are out of luck unless they restock. Easter is late this year, but the basket filler is out and has been for weeks. I got some good stuff!
I grabbed socks, pens, notebooks, felt play toys, and necklaces (for the ladies). My kids LOVE to draw/color/craft so the seasonal dollar spot had great finds.
Then I hit up my go-to, Amazon!
Easter Egg Shaped Sidewalk Chalk – We love side walk chalk and need a restock for the warmer days ahead. Literally all of us color the driveway into colorful artwork.
My Fairy Garden Magical Cottage Playset – I actually grabbed this last Spring and saved it for this Easter! My kids love being outside and the girls have been asking for a fairy garden.
Play-Doh Spring Eggs Easter Eggs 4 pack – Play-dough is always something I restock on holidays. How cute are these eggs? I got each kid a set for their basket.
Pete the Cat: Big Easter Adventure – We love Pete the Cat. A must have for our Easter book collection. My kindergartener reads this series in school and my preschooler too!
carter’s Vincent Boy’s Dress Loafer – WHAT! A loafer for my guy. Can’t wait to see him decked out in his “Newport look” with these tiny loafers.
carter’s Bunbun Girl’s Bunny Ballet Flat – These shoes are too cute! I can not resist shoes in the basket.
GYBBER&MUMU Wooden Preschool Shape Puzzle – How cool is this puzzle? Both my 2 year old and 3 year old are going to love this. Great for travel too.
Jellycat Bashful Beige Bunny – my kids each have one from previous Easter and they all still sleep with them.
Easter is Sunday, April 16th!
