Home Update // Dining Room Chairs
Do you remember when I updated the dining room table last summer? It was a month long restoration process and the final product really came out well. I surprised myself with the amount of time and effort I gave to the project, but when you are sitting down to meals at a folding table – the pressure is on!
The table and chairs was gifted to us from my now father-in-law when T.J. and I moved in together well over a decade ago.
I was hoping to refinish the chairs as well. We have six chairs – four side chairs and two armchairs. They are all in really rough shape and we’ve been drilling screws and gluing them together hoping to get every last bit of use. So, refinishing them would really just be a waste of my time.
I’ve started looking to just buy some chairs because we don’t need a dining room set. I also recently refinished the sideboard that was handed down to us from my husbands grandparents. More on that another time. Looks SO GOOD.
I always keep my eye on the Facebook tag sale pages and sometimes browse Craigslist – but I mostly find sets of two or four. I really need 6 and chairs that aren’t in total disrepair or are upholstered.
I don’t want to break the bank either – because our kids are still small and we aren’t a fine dining family. We need a casual look that is durable.
Here is what I have my eyes on…
Modway Gear Dining Side Chair, Walnut // Set of Two (2) – Walnut – Cross Back Chair // Set of Four Gun Metal Gray Tolix-Style Metal Indoor/Outdoor Stackable Chairs // Furmax Metal Chairs Distressed Style Dream White Chairs (4 pack)
My husband is NOT sold on metal chairs for the dining room, but I am trying to sell him on how they will be super easy to clean and no maintenance. What about some cute pillows for the backs too! And, plus, also, the cost is so low for some of these chairs. I mean, a set of four for less than $200! I probably can’t even find chairs for that cost on the tag sale site.
I’ll let you know what we decide. Until then, I’ll keep looking! What do you think?
