Summer vacations are here – that could mean travel for some of us. Day trips or week long vacations while school is out for summer break. I don’t know about you, but vacations can really throw my stomach for a loop. With all the eating out, special treats, and off schedule eating, my stomach can get twisted up leaving me feeling totally miserable.
Who the heck wants that feeling on vacation?
I take a daily probiotic. I have an alarm set on my phone so I won’t forget. It really has helped in the past year with my stomach troubles. I don’t like to feel all that bloat, gas, and discomfort that can come when you least expect it.
More recently I was sent some Restore to try. I’m always up for trying something new – especially when it can help with my gut. Restore is not a probiotic, but rather a gut health supplement. Seriously if your gut is off – it can make everything off. I have found this to be so true with my own body. Restore is a unique dietary supplement that strengthens the gut lining, which supplies the first line of defense against everyday exposures to environmental and food-borne factors. The gut needs good bacteria to keep itself in check, and Restore creates the optimal environment for the good bacteria to flourish.
When we take antibiotics – they can strip our gut of good bacteria throwing the whole thing off. It can take a good while for our gut to restore itself, but in the meantime we feel pretty lousy. If the bacteria in the gut is off we can have all kinds of stomach troubles. Good gut bacteria protect our immune system, because about 60-70% of our immune system is in the gut membrane system, the gastrointestinal-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT), and the GALT produces 80% of the body’s antibodies.
I’ve been using the Restore supplement for a couple of weeks now. The directions are to take 1 teaspoon/3 times a day for a total of 1 tablespoon daily. I’ve added it to part of my vitamin/supplement/probiotic routine. I’ve mentioned before how my husband and I have gone gluten-free as part of an elimination diet to see what was causing our stomach troubles about a year ago. The Restore seems to help with the gluten sensitivity if I slip a little while eating out – I don’t have to worry about the after effects the next day. The taste isn’t great – but it is tolerable. Refrigeration isn’t required.
The Sinus spray has been amazing during the past few weeks of insane pollen here in Connecticut. My nose was getting super dried out after all the nose blowing and this spray provides a soothing mist.
