Easy Everyday Looks for Moms
I’ve been posting a lot of my every day looks on my Instagram page. Are you following along with me there? Well, I know that there are a lot of you that are not. So, I want to make sure you can see what I am posting on Instagram here too!
I don’t know about you, but I feel more productive during the day when I am dressed, hair and some makeup done. For a few years when my kids were all four and under, and I was in the thick of being a Mom, there were days I barely managed to wash my face or brush my hair. Let alone get dressed in real clothes.
Now all that has changed. All of my kids are in school, not at the same time, but for at least a few hours a day. We have a morning routine that is more manageable. No more stops for nursing breaks or diaper changes. The time lost for those two things meant NO hair brushing or face washing before getting my oldest out the door for PreK. I would have to start getting the kids coats, shoes, and into the van 30 minutes before leaving to get somewhere on time. Most mornings I fly solo here too so it is always 3:1.
Lets be honest. I wouldn’t change those couple of years for the chance to look better when getting out the door in the morning. I miss those little chubby baby faces.
So, now I have a bit of time. My kids are just a bit older. I have an almost 7 year old that can help with the 4 and almost 3 year old. No one is in diapers and can go potty alone! All these little milestones add up to more time for my own self care. And, just that little bit of time makes all the difference.
I mentioned before I purged to my closet. I let go of the things I thought I MIGHT wear again but honestly NEVER will. I donated a TON and even sold a bunch on eBay. I organized my closet in a way that makes it easy to put together a look in less than a couple minutes. I can open my closet and grab two or three pieces and have a great put together look! Almost like those capsule wardrobes you might have heard about…but not exactly trimmed down to that degree.
A capsule wardrobe is defined as a compact wardrobe made up of staple pieces in coordinating colours–usually in the realm of 30 items or fewer, including shoes and sometimes even accessories.
My go-to stores for good, quality basics are J.Crew/J.Crew Factory, Ann Taylor LOFT, Nordstrom. That is it! Three places I shop. So, if you ask me where I bought an item I am wearing, it is easily from one of these three. Oh, and T.J. Maxx!
I love LOFT for their petite sizing, Nordstrom has just about everything from shoes to accessories to all the clothing you can think of and J.Crew always has classics that last season to season. Great sales on all these sites so you never have to pay full price! If you are a credit card holder, TONS of perks like free shipping, rewards for future purchases and more!
Find the basics, find your comfortable and casual style and feel great about walking out the door everyday. It really can put a pep in your step and set the tone for a great day!
