Week Three of Whole 30

January 16, 2018

Week Three of Whole 30

If you are following along here you know I started a Whole 30 on January first! Wanting to keep myself and the women in my Facebook group motivated I am keeping a log here too.

Week three!

I am feeling so good! The skin on my face is flawless, not feeling dry like it was, and overall I am feeling like I have much more energy. Also, no more tummy trouble and bloating. Something I know stems from sugar! The ladies in my group agree!

I’ve been keeping a photo journal of all my meals on Instagram. I think it will be fun to look back after thirty days and see what I ate. I don’t think I’ve ever tracked each meal with a photo EVER.

My tastebuds have surely changed. I’m trying new foods and seasonings I probably would not have before. I added a Trader Joes highlight to my Instagram too for anyone who wants to try new items there that I’ve found to be Whole 30 compliant. I know I mentioned writing a post up with all my Trader Joe’s picks, but I think I’ll do that once this round is complete. I’ve only had one shopping trip there this month.

A friend told me about Thrive Market? I wasn’t familiar, but they have tons of foods that ship right to your door for different diets including gluten free, paleo, whole 30, raw and vegan! I have added a few things to my cart, but haven’t pulled the trigger just yet.

My Blue Apron order never arrived! Remember I spoke about trying out their Whole 30 meals? Eh! Well, another box is due to arrive this Friday so fingers crossed it gets here and I can try it! I only ordered a meal for two. I just don’t see my kids eating anything on their meal plans.

I’ve tried a few new recipes over the last week and they were both super yummy. First was an apple and pumpkin bake which basically tasted like warm pumpkin pie filling. And the second was a chicken and potato casserole that even my oldest enjoyed! Both made enough to last a few days which I like.

I’ve found again with this meal plan that it requires a lot of planning an cooking and prep. I feel like I’m washing more dishes and pots and pans than I usually would day to day, but I see it as a trade off for eating real foods that aren’t processed.

I’m starting to look ahead to what I will do after this thirty days is over. I don’t think I’ll continue a strict Whole 30, but I think I’ll transition a bit to include a few things back into my diet in moderation. I’m still going to exclude sugar and dairy. Maybe a tiny bit of dairy here and there like in my coffee. I have already excluded gluten from my diet more than a year ago so that’s not a big deal. I do miss beans and some nuts!

If you have tried a Whole 30 before what did you do next after the thirty days? I don’t remember what I did the previous two times. Sugar is usually my hardest habit to break and one tiny bit can lead to a whole lot! So many foods we eat have sneaky amounts of sugar! It is truly unbelievable!
