Dance Recital Recap 2018
We are in a very busy season of life over here. What is it with the months of May and June that leave no minute to spare? School has all the end of year activities and celebrations, dance recitals, sports award and closing ceremonies and preschool graduations and birthday parties! And here it is only June 11th!
Anyway, last weekend was the girls dance recital. The most exciting moment they have been working so hard toward since September! Remember when Valentina was just starting her dance classes back in September? This was her first year dancing and she never missed a beat! Get it?
Having both girls in dance this year kept us even more busy during the week since one dance on Wednesday evening and the other danced on Saturday mornings. Both girls dance tap and ballet, and Gabriella in her third year added jazz too.
Hanging out at the dance studio for so many years for such long stretches of time has given me time to form some nice friendships with the other moms. Its a nice little break from the busy day to sit and wait for the girls to dance. I particularly like the evening class since me and the other moms can occasionally grab a quick bite or happy hour cocktail!
Gabriella is in her third year this year of dance and this was Valentina’s first. Both ladies were so excited for rehearsal day which we had to be at for 8AM on a Saturday. Full hair and makeup and first costume on had us up and going around 7AM! I was a bit more panicked getting two of them ready with the perfect low bun and just the right amount of makeup. We did it and rehearsals went great.
Sunday was showtime! The girls dance in the 11AM show. Our studio has both a morning and evening show. I had intentionally signed the girls up for classes that would have them in the morning show. Although it is a bit longer, three hours, we get out with daylight to spare. We’ve tried the evening show and getting back home at 9PM and having to eat a quick sub-par dinner before bed isn’t great for my young kids. Plus, school the next morning is a drag. When the recital was over last Sunday we headed home for a nice cookout on the deck. We even had time to make s’mores for desert! The kids needed that extra outside time so they could blow off their anxiety of the weekend. Anthony was SUCH A TROOPER for keeping his cool during his sister’s long show.
The girls can’t wait to get back to dance in September, but I’ll be enjoying the break from driving all over town every day. School has since let out for Valentina and Anthony and Gabriella has just a week and a half to go. I love the activities during the school year, but we are all looking forward to those care free summer days!

Good job Mom! The girls look beautiful and so happy. You’re a trooper! 😊
Thanks Julie! It was a great weekend!
