READY-TO-READ, The Early Reader Line From Simon & Schuster
This is a sponsored post with Simon & Schuster.
Are you raising readers? Are you excited for your kids learning to read?!
My husband and I read a lot, and we want to foster that same love of reading with our children. Reading can take you to far away places, teach you things you don’t know, and keep you informed. It is the key and stepping stone to so many other things.
I can tell you that it was life-changing when my oldest daughter started to read. When she first started Kindergarten, she could pick out a few sight words, but by the end of the year, she was reading short books to her brother and sister and the rest is history. You can find her reading a book any time she has free time. Now that my second daughter Valentina has started Kindergarten, she too is on the same journey to read.
My husband and I definitely like to encourage their love to learn how to read, and we do that by finding books that are suitable for each of their reading level. All three of my kids are at different stages in their education, so we like to keep a variety of books available at home. Whether we find books at the library or from the store, I like to keep a fair amount of reading tools ready for them. One of the ways I like to foster this growth in their development is to create a quiet space that is cozy. I have a comfortable chair in each of their rooms with a small basket of books beside it. That way, they can see the opportunity to sit down with a book. Even if they can’t read the words yet, turning the pages and looking at the artwork is a great jumping off point for getting them comfortable with books.
One of our favorite series of books to keep close by for the kids are from Ready-to-Read. They have five levels of books starting with sight words all the way up to those longer, more complex story plots. Confidence is key when kids are getting ready to read. The Ready-to-Read program is designed to keep kids engaged and excited at each level. With exciting nonfiction stories and all of their favorite characters, the Ready-to-Read books are a perfect choice for those starting out. Stories from fan favorites like Daniel Tiger, the PJ Masks, and the Peanuts will get kids excited to read about their adventures. And, for those picture books fans, you can see characters from authors like Doreen Cronin and Eric Carle.
Ready-To-Go – Stellar Starter – Sight words, word families, rhythm, rhyme, and repetition. Books are no more than 100 words.
Pre-Level One – Rising Star Reader – Shared reading, family characters, simple words.
Level One – Star Reader – Easy sight words and words to sound out, simple plot and dialogue, familiar topics and themes.
Level Two – Superstar Reader – Longer sentences, simple chapters, high-interest vocabulary words.
Level Three – Megastar Reader – Longer, more complex story plot and character development. Challenging vocabulary words and more difficult sentence structure.
At the end of each book, you can find reading comprehension questions which are great for helping children to re-engage with the text and better understand it. I especially like to go through the questions with my eight-year-old Megastar Reader who often likes to “speed read” books. A little quiz at the end is a great way for us to talk about the book and see if she was just reading the words or remembering and understanding the story.
Ready-to-Read has something for everyone, and even reluctant readers will enjoy the easy format and fun stories. Ready-to-Read is designed to turn every child into a reading star with five levels that help develop young readers. From nonfiction series to original stories and everything in between, Ready-to-Read has something for everyone!
Reading at the end of the day right before bedtime is something we never miss around here. I look forward to this time to unwind at the end of the day with the kids and their book of choice. Whether it is me reading to them or them reading to one another, it is a special time of day for all of us. And watching them develop their love of reading and learning to read is simply amazing.
