Friday Favorites and Goings On
It has been a minute since I posted anything here. I just can’t seem to get a minute to sit down and write anything which has been super frustrating to me as this blog has been a nice little outlet for me since 2007. I’ve keep up with some quick posts to Instagram since that seems like the easiest platform for me to hit publish.
My older gal got to go to her third father-daughter dance hosted by the Girl Scout Council in our town. (Shop her dress and shoes here) This event is really exciting for the girls and they look forward to it each year. Each year the theme changes and this year it was “A Night on the Red Carpet” so they got to walk a red carpet and take silly shots in a themed photo booth. Valentina had to sit this year out because she was fighting a cold. We baked our favorite paleo chocolate chip cookies and I made a whole30 compliant chili as the next day was the BIG GAME. Our team, the Patriots took another victory, but the game was boring. A little entertainment would have been fun! Ha!

My kids are needing me more than ever lately. I guess that is a good thing. They have activities that I have involved myself in like Girl Scouts, dance, and the school PTO (I’m one of the Treasure’s and this is my last term) along with helping in their classrooms when I can. I love that I can be with them and help in this way, but the only free time I have left is when I am sweating it up in my barre class. I look forward to that hour of sweat and encouragement and it really helps my stress and anxiety during these long days. We’ve celebrated the 100th day of school last week and we had a few crafting projects to get ready for that. I found this long sleeve shirt at Target for Gabriella’s 100th day and found a cute idea on Pinterest for 100th day shirts. I started a new board just for this because with three kids there will be two more shirts to create! Any chance I get get two more wears out of this one?! 🙂

The last week or so we’ve been battling some illnesses here along with the weather. School delays and full day cancellations for snow keep me on my toes with ways to entertain all three. Three to one is no joke. And combine that with the regular chores of the day and I’m basically falling into my bed before 9pm. I am beat. The days are long, but they also go by so fast. I don’t even seem to understand how it is already the day after Valentine’s Day. With sick days and cancelled school days it has been hard to find a routine.

I took Val and Anthony to the pediatrician on Monday because the nasty wet cough they both had along with a low fever had me and them going insane. Diagnosis ended up being ear infections for both which blew my mind since NONE of my kids had EVER had an ear infection. Would have been the last thing I would have thought. They tested negative for the flu which I though would be positive. It is running though the schools like crazy.

This is my ideal way of celebrating Valentine’s Day. A lazy day in bed sipping pour-over coffee and eating snacks. This adorable ceramic pour-over pot is my new favorite way to make a hot cup for two when we aren’t jamming through the week. Maybe we can put this into the works over the long weekend!
My last favorite thing this week has been organizing my pajamas. Sounds lame, but you know all that hype going on with the Marie Kondo method and her Netflix show? I watched it a few weeks ago. I think I got through a couple of episodes. It wasn’t something I had to binge-watch. If you know me, you know I am NOT a hoarder but the opposite. If something lays around too long it moves on from this house. So, my takeaway from the show was the folding methods. This is something I hadn’t embraced ever. Well, now I have an entire empty drawer in my bureau from refolding my pajamas and letting go of the ones I was holding onto for no good reason other than they were pajamas. I mean, all pajamas give me JOY! I love to be cozy! I had a few pairs that I’m just never going to wear again because I sleep next to my husband who is a furnace. Most nights I wear a T shirt and pants so no need for the good old fleece sets. I’m amazed how quick the folding is and how easily compact it all becomes!
